本剧讲述了一支急救员队伍穿梭于伦敦南部，救死扶伤的故事。Samson Kayo饰演故作强大的独行侠Maleek，Jane Horrocks饰演过分友好的离异女同事Wendy。两人一开始似乎并不适合做队友，都在努力争取同事们对自己的尊重，但不久之后，他们就建立了意料之外的友谊，这让他们能在高压应急服务工作环境中，保持平稳的心态。
