《我的2008》描述了北京一小区内五位都市青年间发生的故事，五位主演的角色名字中还暗含着“北京欢迎你”。除了每集的内容都独立成章外，故事中还会增加一些对奥运 项目和奥运精神的独特注解。
长今（李英爱 饰）出生在一个贱民家庭，他的父亲徐天寿原来当年曾是内禁卫军官，奉命赐予废太后允氏毒药，随后允氏的儿子燕山君登基继位，天寿为了保全自身，辞官而去。天寿在途中救了长今母亲，两人结为连理，隐姓埋名。岂料皇上燕山君如今欲为母报仇，下令追捕所有当年参与杀死允太后的人，长今母亲逃难路上不幸丧命，临终前嘱咐长今进宫。失去了父母的小长今幸得宫中熟手姜德久一家收留，并在他的安排下进入了宫中御厨房做工，开始了她漫长的宫中历程。韩尚宫（梁美京 饰）非常照顾聪明好学的小长今，然而崔尚宫却因为与韩尚宫的不和而对长今处处刁难，每次在崔尚宫的设局陷害下，长今都以自己的蕙质兰心和坚持不懈一一化解，然而她母亲的身世秘密却逐渐浮出水面，还有更大的困难挡在长今的面前。
故事从上世纪80年代初期讲起，西川市一家歌舞厅的“西北摇滚王”李丹成（刘小锋饰）用摇滚演唱西部的高腔名歌“花儿”获得满堂贺彩。文化厅厅长何嘉找到李丹成，动员他回团挑起团长的担子，李丹成回绝。老团员汪新民在病危之际，李丹成临危受命。在李丹成的领导下，排演大戏《哈姆雷特》曲高和寡，又转换思路，带着演员开车大篷车下乡演出，根据老百姓的真实生活编写、排演了一批农村百姓喜闻乐见的好剧目，一时间轰动了四邻八村，纷纷邀请大篷车剧团区委乡亲们演出。《咱们庄稼人》、《女村长》、《铜唢呐》等剧目场场爆满，成为当地老百姓传颂的经典剧目。
电话公司里有四位全栋大厦闻名的“猪扒”：患罕见脱发症导致头发稀疏的阿Mo（李嘉欣 饰）、荷尔蒙过剩的保安主管苏眉（莫文蔚 饰）、脸上有大块恶心胎记的计算机部员工“态猫”（林熙蕾 饰）、哨牙蒙眼的秘书阿刨（关秀媚 饰）。四个“猪扒”在公司虽然工作努力，但因样子问题经常遭到宣传部主管“妖姬”嘲笑和排挤，四人敢怒不敢言，直到一天公司因经济不景气四人同时遭到了解雇。公司设计师春春（陈小春 饰）可怜四人的遭遇，与细龟和阿伦想出了一条别出心裁的妙计，帮助四人筹款整容。春春的妙计能否凑效，四位“猪扒”又能否咸鱼翻身？
